Keyworth Parish Council Serving the village of Keyworth

The finals night of the 46th Keyworth Quiz was held on April 11th in the Village Hall and provided an exciting, competitive evening for the regular audience.

There were two very close semi-finals with The Keyworth Guitar Club (and Feargus the Musical) team of Brian Lund, Sandy Drummond, Andrew Baker and Chris Mills beating the Abundance team of David Wingfield, Kath Pennington, Jeremy Rushton and Doug Minney in a five-question play off after the match ended in a 56-56 draw.

The second semi-final was equally close with the BGS team of Tim Pharaoh, Lina Hannaford, Mike Styles and Lauren Tuffield coming back from a six-point deficit with five questions left to beat the Keyworth Show team of Nigel Millband, Ernie Lay, Richard Lumb and Mark Corbett by 66-63.

In the final, BGS took an early lead in the team and picture rounds but the Guitar Club made a steady comeback winning the Mastermind Round and taking the crucial and tense Bell and Buzzer round by 40-28 to win 85-79.

The Guitar Club picked up their first ever Oakley Cup trophy from Chris Terrell-Nield who manages the technical aspects of the quiz. Kath Oakley (and Anne Bellamy in earlier rounds) managed the score sheets and Paul Turner and John Spafford wrote and asked the questions.

Thanks to everyone who competed - it was great to be back again with a live audience to entertain.

Money raised from the quiz goes to Keyworth Groups who provide the refreshments.

We are planning to run the quiz again in 2023 by which time we hope all our regular teams can safely compete again.
