Keyworth Neighbourhood Plan – Public Consultation

The last two years have seen the Parish Council and the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group undertake some significant public consultation with residents, businesses and developers over the way that Keyworth should develop over the next fourteen years. Over the summer, our independent planning consultants, BPUD, reviewed the material that we have gathered and used the feedback from the community to form planning policies. These policies now form the first draft of the Keyworth Neighbourhood Plan.

The plan includes a wide range of policies, from those controlling the location of new housing and employment, to policies which set standards for the design of new buildings and spaces and protect our heritage and landscape. The plan seeks to carefully balance new development to ensure minimal impact on the road network and the landscape, whilst ensuring that the benefits of new development can be enjoyed by all through investment in community facilities, open spaces and shopping areas.

The next stage of the process is to find out the community's views on the draft Keyworth Neighbourhood Plan, whether it covers all the important points and if there is anything that could be done better. The plan will also be sent to key agencies such as the County Council, Natural England, and English Heritage for their comments. The Parish Council resolved on 12th November to send the Plan out for public consultation. This period of consultation will run for seven weeks from a date in December (yet to be decided).

Look out for a summary document/questionnaire coming through your door before Christmas. This provides a short summary of the plan and its policies, and asks for your opinions. Full details of how to view the full plan and its evidence will be provided in the summary document, and all material will be available on the Parish Council's website.
