Keyworth Parish Council Serving the village of Keyworth

Cllr Kath Oakley

I have lived in Keyworth for 40 years. When we came, I found the village welcoming to newcomers and my children grew up in a pleasant village environment, with good schools, lots of amenities, clubs and societies, which were important to me and my family.

I have worked for over 24 years in a senior post with Nottinghamshire County Council and as a Magistrate for 20 years. My interests are many and varied, but the 'environment' looms large and I am involved at an advisory level with the National Trust. I lecture on my favourite subject – food and wine and still provide a monthly recipe in Keyworth News. I am actively involved in the life of the village and enjoy it and have met many good people.

Keyworth is a good place to be and the wheel has 'turned full circle', and I now have grandchildren growing up in the village. Keyworth faces many challenges and opportunities in the future - an ageing population, the need for affordable housing - do we expand and what are the possible 'knock on effects?' do we have sufficient facilities for young people? Some difficult decisions for the future of Keyworth.

Keyworth Parish Council, and volunteers, try to work for the good of our village, they need our support. I hope I can help.
