Keyworth Parish Council Serving the village of Keyworth

Cllr Kara Sayers

I first lived in Keyworth in 2011 and have now returned with my family after several years overseas. Since returning to the village, I have become enthralled by village life and have been overcome by the incredible sense of community that we have here in Keyworth. I am incredibly keen to contribute to the village and its residents wherever I can. As a mother to five, I have been delighted to discover the wonderful opportunities and resources that already exist within the village for young people in particular, and I am incredibly keen to encourage this to continue and expand where it can. I have children attending South Wolds and Willow Brook schools and have recently joined the Friends of Willow Brook team. I have also become a Sectional Assistant for Keyworth Cubs. My career has been focused on Zoology, Ecology and Conservation, and so naturally I am extremely passionate about caring for our wildlife and natural spaces. I am the Founder and Managing Director of SORCE - a Marine Conservation Facility in Indonesia - and so have a broad depth of knowledge regarding sustainability, environmental policy, nature-based community engagement, and wildlife conservation. Through this role I have developed skills across the communications field in a range of multimedia disciplines, including photography, videography, web-design, marketing, documentation design (whether it be for teaching, advertising, or other purposes), social media engagement, and public speaking. I also regularly engage with audiences of all ages and sizes in order to teach them about biology and conservation practise. I am very excited by the possibility of exploring ways to increase the sustainability of our village and to encourage people to engage further with the care and enjoyment of our natural areas.
